You're singing your heart out, but then all of a sudden - boom - your voice voice cracks for no apparent reason...
You're scared of performing live because you never know if you're going to crack on that high note...
You have a solid chest voice and a solid head voice, but no matter what you do you have a big gap between those registers...
You understand the concept of mix voice, but you've tried a ton of exercises and techniques yet still nothing is helping you to find your mix...
You can sing in a head dominant mix voice, but making that sound more like chest voice without yelling seems impossible...
Just more practice isn't going to help you sing in your mix voice all of a sudden... All the pushing you're feeling right now won't get any easier over time.
You just haven't found the right techniques and exercises for your voice yet. Once you do everything will click and fall into place and you'll make insane progress really quickly!
Even though I took voice lessons for over a decade I could never really sing in mix voice - especially not in a mix-belt, that place where it sounds like you're belting, but it's as effortless as singing in mix voice. NO CHANCE.
I was either pushing my chest voice higher, which kinda made me sound like I was yelling (because I was... 🙄) or then in a head dominant mix voice or head voice. That in-between felt impossible to achieve.
Until I learned about balance...
The balance between your breath and muscles and the balance between your chest voice and head voice.
Understanding that made me realized that I was approaching mix voice from the wrong angle for my voice!
I didn't need to make my chest voice stronger or beef up my head dominant mix... (which is what I was trying that entire time!)
I just needed to make my chest voice softer and let more air come through.
Sounds counterproductive, but literally within just a couple days I was able to "belt" insanely high notes (I was mixing, but it sounded like I was belting), which is something I worked on for over 10 years and never could do before 🤯
So no, there's nothing wrong with you and yes, mixing is absolutely something you can learn, you might just be approaching it from the wrong angle.
I applied balance technique with singer Samantha, have a listen at how much more powerful she sounded all the way up in those high notes!
Eliminate the crack from your voice
Control the volume in your passagio
Develop a strong mix voice
Feel effortless and agile when singing through your break
WITHOUT
Feeling like you have to work super hard
Getting tired quickly
Compromising your unique sound
Then you need Erase The Vocal Break!
First we need to identify where your tension is coming from and what we can do to release it. Without this step everything else will be useless as you will continue to work harder than you have to, which tires you out!
Singing is all about finding the balance between breath and muscle engagement and between chest voice and head voice. Without this balance it'll get really difficult to sing in your mix voice.
This is where you will explore different exercises and techniques to eliminate that gap between your registers and start creating seamless transitions. We'll do this softly first before adding power.
The last step is adding the power back in now that you've found your balance and your mix voice so that you can get those high notes out with more power than you imagined possible (all while feeling good!).
A self-guided course showing you all the techniques and exercises you need to balance your voice and develop a strong mix.
VTS student and lead singer Billy from Billy & The Kidz went from barely opening her mouth singing a Bruno Mars song in her first lesson to finding her rock style, forming a band and going on tour. The highlight of their tour was playing the iconic Viper Room in Hollywood where the audience was singing their original songs back at them. The VTS team was pumped to travel across the US to be with Billy as she jumped into the professional music scene together with her band and their awesome original songs.
Izzy started her lessons with us in her senior year of High School and decided to pursue music full time for one year after graduating. This milestone allowed her to continue her music career and have the opportunity to get her songs from demo tapes onto major platforms. At only 19 years old she is able to confidently follow her passions as a full time musician.
